This project is based on the assignment of creating a new office building. The site is located at the harbour front, close to the Limfjord’s Bridge in Nørresundby, Denmark. A vision for the site is to activate and invigorate it and its context and wanting to create an ideal working space for the creative offices of the future. The idea of a conventional office building has been reinterpreted. The incorporation of important keywords, such as human scale, identity, flexibility, innovation and knowledge sharing has led to the creation of a masterplan for the project site with a landscape of several smaller designed office pavilions. These pavilions break down the existing typology, and create a new interpretation of a traditional typology, with a high level of transparency in many scales.
The underlying topic for the semester, integrated building design, has been used as a design tool, in both aesthetical and functional requirements, as well as technical and structural. These requirements have been assessed with the same importance and the design solution has been created by letting these different fields accompany each other throughout the whole process.
